Starting Up!

After qualifying in body piercing there will be a couple of directions you could consider taking your career. You may want to open your own business or you might not want the stress of having your own business straight away.
A good way of having your own business without having the stress is to rent space in a local shop that is already up and running and established.

By renting space in an already established shop you are starting a career with a customer base already there for you which makes things easier. Starting up and getting recognise can be difficult.
But by renting space in an already established shop they will already have a social media platform with followers which means your advertising is going to be noticed.

Both options have pros and cons.

Paying a percentage is a good way to start your business because if you don't earn any money you don't have to pay any money out. However during peak season when you are earning a lot of income you are going to be paying a large amount of that out. By paying a percentage the shop will want you to have more customers and will advertise and push you more because the more you earn the more they will earn.

Paying rent, If you are paying rent to the shop and you decide to go on holiday or you don't take any money that week you still have to pay your rent. However during peak season when you're generating a larger income your rent doesn't increase so you take home a larger salary. Also by paying rent when you become established and noticed and you are getting more customers your rent doesn't increase so the money you accumulate is your income.

You may want to consider having a contract in place so your percentage or your rent cost doesn't increase.

Renting space in a local tattoo shop or in a local aesthetics clinic is a good option they will already have the expensive machinery to sterilise your tools these machines are costly so by renting space it is something you won't have to pay for straight away.

Often a rented space will already be fitted with fixtures fittings which would save you money. They will often already have the furniture. They may already have a clinical waste contract and insurance for you to be added on. Taking all this into consideration I think it is a fantastic way to start a career in body piercing.
